This community is free and open to anyone with an interest in biomechanics—from students and educators to researchers and professionals. As the home of National Biomechanics Day, our mission is to advance the understanding and celebration of biomechanics around the world.

National Biomechanics Day 2025 celebrated our Breakthrough Science for the tenth consecutive year on April 9, 2025, with events held across 25 countries spanning six continents. 

 

It’s remarkable to see how far we’ve come since the very first National Biomechanics Day, held on April 7, 2016, with only two original sponsors, the American Society of Biomechanics and Nike. That inaugural event brought together over 2,000 students in 48 biomechanics labs and commercial sites across many U.S. states. 

 

Fast forward to 2025, and we are now a truly global celebration—this year alone, over 13,000 participants experienced the excitement of biomechanics. In total, over 58,000 students have participated in NBD over the past decade!

 

Let that sink in… 58,000 students! That’s thousands of bright minds sparked by your creativity, your passion, and your willingness to open the doors of your labs and classrooms to share the excitement of biomechanics.

2025 Grant Programs
 

We proudly continued our National Biomechanics Day Grant Program in 2025, supporting impactful outreach efforts that make biomechanics more accessible to students and communities around the world. This year, eight outstanding recipients were awarded funding through four targeted programs, all made possible by our generous sponsors and the broader NBD community. 

  • The Black Biomechanists Grant Program, sponsored by Bertec Corporation and the Black Biomechanists Association, supported events led by Dailyn Despradel and Bria Smith. 
  • The Women in Biomechanics Grant Program, also supported by Bertec and International Women in Biomechanics, provided funding to Marni Wasserman and Brooklyn Vargas. 
  • Two recipients—Jordan Feldman and Jorie Budzikowski—received awards through the Disability Biomechanics Grant Program, sponsored by the American Society of Biomechanics. 
  • Finally, Jéssica da Silva Lamp and Tiago Dutra Leite Nunes were awarded grants through the LatinX Biomechanics Grant Program, sponsored by Books of Discovery and LatinX in Biomechanics, which also provided biomechanics textbooks for student participants. 

 

These programs help expand the reach of NBD events and bring the excitement of biomechanics to new audiences across the globe.
